A year on since my first ‘message to the members’ on this website and I note that much of what I said then is still relevant: the IAS membership continues to grow and we currently record an all-time membership high, which I believe is a reflection of the efforts to which all of the National and Regional Committee’s have gone to encourage fellow agents to join our Society; the social events are as well attended as ever; the second Dissertation of the Year prize has been awarded; the third Shed Show had a record turn-out; the technical visits continue apace; the return of the IAS stand-alone Development of the Year Awards were a great success; and our money-raising and donations continue to be welcomed by our chosen charities. Most importantly of course, the membership networks in the best way it knows how: by having fun and long may it continue.
The Society remains loyal to its original ideals of promoting business and social links within the industrial property and logistic sectors in the UK and plays a significant part in the industrial and logistics sector itself. But I cannot avoid concerns over the future of the property market given persistent press coverage of the turbulent conditions in the global financial markets so I wish you all good fortune in the difficult period in which we find ourselves.
Finally, if you feel that your Society can play a more significant part in your career and the industrial and the logistics sector it serves, I will be pleased to hear from any member especially if you have any suggestions that may help the IAS be of more help to you.
