Welcome to www.shedshifters.co.uk, the dedicated website of the Industrial Agents Society, which I hope you will find useful for keeping abreast of all IAS news and events across the UK, agent client requirements, membership details, suppliers lists, industrial research and information on our planned fundraising activities for 2017 /2018.
I could not be more excited to take over as IAS Chairman in our 41st year, especially following the pride and excitement of having been part of our fundraising and events throughout our 40th Anniversary, which culminated in our inaugural Conference, attended by over 400 delegates at Twickenham Rugby Stadium just before Christmas 2016.
There is a lot to celebrate about our Society and as membership numbers continue to grow, we must all continue to work together. In 2017, the industry must absorb the potential shocks of a Trump administration, Brexit and the triggering of Article 50, plus further uncertainty in Europe with a French election and German vote later in the year.
Amidst this potentially volatile outlook, we must reconcile the pressures on land supply within our sector and the ever-increasing need for housing supply, and work with the British Property Federation Industrial Committee (BPF) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), as well as Central Government, to address our concerns over the planning system. As a group we can be an important and powerful lobby in this regard.
As Chairman I intend to ensure we remain committed to delivering new and interesting events, which feature quality content while offering value for money. I would therefore like to ask members to please get in touch with any suggestions by emailing me at email@example.com where we can discuss these ideas further with the regional and national committees.
Over the next two years we are keen to collaborate with our membership to produce thought provoking research, which will ultimately benefit all of our society. Again, please do contact me if you have any topics you would like to put forward.
Ben Wiley, IAS Chairman
